FIREWORKS | Sat July 20 20:30-22:30

CLICK HERE FOR MEETING SPOT LOCATION
We watch the fireworks from the very best spot in the city,
the Jacques-Cartier Bridge, which is closed to cars during the event.
The closing of the bridge creates a lot of traffic congestion,
and the Metro will be super crowded with people headed to the fireworks.
We've been going to this for years.  Our PRO TIP is to take an Uber to 1594 Rue Logan
and walk five minutes to our meeting spot (see links).  You bypass all of the traffic this way.
It can take up to 30min to Uber or bike to reach the meeting spot.  Plan to leave by 20:00.
BATHROOMS: Use them before the Meet Up and after that there are porta-potties
up on the bridge about a ten minute rounttrip walk past where we'll be seated.
The police will hold us back until about 21:00,
then we'll pass through a security checkpoint.
Purses and backpacks will be searched.
No glass bottles, or cans, or alcohol are allowed.
Baby strollers are also prohibited.
Picnic blankets and folding chairs are OK.
We gather early so we can be first through the checkpoint,
so we can be the first to reach our preferred seating area
to spread out to make room for our whole group.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR ATHLETIC VOLUNTEERS
to lead the initial charge to secure space for the rest of the group
who move a bit slower, and for the stragglers who might arrive a little late.
If you are willing to volunteer for this heroic job, please PM Brad at +1-212-375-3456.
Seating is on the ground, and it's concrete.
We will try to bring a bunch of picnic blankets.
Folding chairs are permitted, so our guests who are
driving into Montreal might want to bring theirs.

IMPORTANT DETAILS:
From the base of the bridge it's about 3/4 of a mile
or 1.3 kilometers up to our preferred seating area.
You walk up the bridge in the center of the span, not on the narrow
walkways on the sides.  You will pass where the bridge is covered overhead.
When you get to where the bridge is no longer covered, immediately on the left side
you will hop over the railing to the narrow walkway.  This is where we want
to spread out and take up as much of that walkway as possible.
Please spread out and secure space for everyone.
It can get breezy up there, even on a warm night.
We recommend bringing an extra layer or a light jacket.  Something that you spread out to sit on is also helpful.
The fireworks will begin promptly at 22:00 and finish at promptly 22:30.
Then we'll begin the walk back down the bridge.
We usually head back to the 1594 Rue Logan area where it's easy
to meet Ubers or pick up public BIXI bikes for the journey home.
